We all know the drill at this point. Marvel movies are lighthearted and fun, DC movies are dark and serious. Marvel movies are loved by everyone. DC movies are the subject ofnumerous jokes by fans of the Marvel movies for being too serious.
Even WB the owners of the DCCU makes jokes about DC movies being too serious. The Lego movie made a parody song about how dark and grim DC movies are.
"DARKNESS! NO PARENTS!" Y'know. that song.
Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, was celebrated at the time of release. In hindsight, everyone pokes fun of them for being too serious and realistic. Snyder's Man Of Steel decided to try and make a more serious Superman, the reception for it was. . . . divisive to say the least.
But those same people who disdain Dark and dreary DC movies are the same people who praise Marvels Daredevil and the will likely praise theUpcoming Jessica Jones TV series. Both of which feature extreme violence, nudity, depressing themes etc.
What's the deal!? Those show do exactly the same thing Dc does in their movies. Why is Marvel grimdark and violent so well received while DC grimdark and violent is the subject of jokes?
