Ayelet Zurer (Hebrew: איילת זורר‎; born 28 June 1969) is an Israeli actress. She was nominated for awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival, the Israeli Academy Awards and the Israeli Television Academy Awards. She won Best Actress awards for her roles in the Israeli film Nina’s Tragedies and Betipul.

She is best known for her portrayal of Lara Lor-Van in Man of Steel.

Early LifeEdit

Ayelet Zurer was born and raised in Tel Aviv, Israel. Her parents were Jewish immigrants to Tel Aviv, and her mother spent World War II hiding in a convent in Czechoslovakia. After completing her military service in the Israel Defense Forces, Zurer moved to the United States to pursue a Hollywood career.

DC Extended UniverseEdit

In 2011, Zurer was cast in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel as Lara Lor-Van which kick started the DC Cinematic Universe. Zurer was cast after Julia Ormond was cast but had to drop out, and after negotiations with Connie Nielsen never materialized.

After the DC Extended UniverseEdit

Zurer can be seen next in the 2015 Marvel Cinematic Universe Netflix series "Marvel's Daredevil" as Vanessa Marianna, whom is the love interest of Wilson Fisk played by Vincent D'Onofrio.

Ayelet Zurer portrayed Vanessa Marianna in the TV series Daredevil, which makes her one of the few actors to date to have appeared in both the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the DC Extended Universe.
