Heroes Park is a public park in Metropolis that was built during the aftermath of the so-called Black Zero Event.
History
Edit
Following the Black Zero Event, a clean-up operation was organized that resulted in the creation of the park and a memorial to honor the people who died.
A statue of Superman was erected in the center of the park and dedicated to the extraterrestrial being who prevented mankind's extinction.
In 2015, Wallace Keefe, who was paralyzed from the waist down as a result of injuries sustained in the Battle of Metropolis, was arrested by the Metropolis Police Department after desecrating the statue.
After Lex Luthor used his own blood and the corpse of General Dru-Zod to create an ancient Kryptonian deformity known as Doomsday, the creature engaged in a fierce battle with Superman and, in the process, reduced the statue to rubble.

Honoring a fallen hero
Immediately following Superman's death, the ruins were replaced with a granite memorial honoring the fallen hero. A funeral procesion was later held in Heroes Park, with an empty casket being buried underneath the memorial.
After Superman's death, the S.T.A.R. Labs assumed the administration and the research on the Kryptonian Ship, later used by Batman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, Flash and Aquaman to ressurect Superman using the Human Motherbox. The Heroes Park were the site where Superman has shown up, and where he fought with the other heroes who brought him back to life.
