Humpback whale is a large, aquatic Mammal that originates the oceans of earth. Fully grown whales range in lengths from 40 to 52 feet and weighing up to 45 tons. It is an endangered species due to a history of overhunting by Humans.
Like all baleen and toothed whales, Humpbacks evolved from land mammals that transitioned to the oceans, starting around 50 million years ago.
Humpback whales were hunted as early as the 18th century, however a ban on whaling has been in effect everywhere except Japan.
