Dr. Poison was a notorious scientist from the Ottoman Empire who specialized in the field of toxicology and fluid dynamics. She was discreetly induced by the divine influence of Ares to create more deadlier versions that those known. An admirer of her work was General Erich Ludendorff. ==== World War I ====

Events
  +
*Battle of the Brine
In the dying days of World War I, Ludendorff visited Dr. Poison in her research facility located in the Ottoman Empire to inspect progress on an even deadlier form of mustard gas (based on hydrogen instead of sulfur) capable of defeating conventional gas masks, which he hoped could still salvage a victory in the war. Unbeknownst to the pair, one of Ludendorff's bodyguards was actually Steve Trevor, an Allied spy. He stole Dr. Poison's notebook containing her research and escaped by plane, thereby informing the Allies of her gas formula and plans to use it.

Items
The theft of her notebook stalled her work considerably, but she none the less succeeded in creating the gas mask defeating poison gas that she and Ludendorff wanted. She also created "vials of energizer" gas for the general, that granted superhuman strength and durability if inhaled.

Ludendorff believed that deployment of Maru's new gas could win Germany the war, and tried to convince German military command to not sign the proposed armistice. They refused, and so Ludendorff and Dr. Maru used her latest gas on them, killing many high ranking commanders.

Ludendorff then organized a Gala, where he planned to demonstrate the gas on the nearby town of Veld, as a show of power to the rich and influential guests who would be present, including the Kaiser himself. They planned then deploy a huge amount of the gas via a prototype Zeppelin-Staaken long-range bomber over London, which Chief estimated would kill 7 million people.

Her gas was successfully deployed against the people of Veld, killing them all. At the airbase, Maru and Ludendorff oversaw the bomber's preparation. When Ares and Diana began fighting, Maru believed the base was under attack, and began destroying her lab and research so that it could not fall into enemy hands. Due to Chief also planting dynamite around the airbase, little to none of Maru's research is likely to have survived.

Production
Dr. Maru tried to flee the base via car as it continued to sustain damage from the fighting of both Diana and Ares, as well as Steve's team and the local German forces. Ares used his telekinesis to summon her car as she fled and bring her before a furious Diana, who has just witnessed Steve's sacrifice. Diana lifted a German tank above her head and was going to drop it on Maru, but spared her, remembering her ordinance as an Amazon, and turning her heart back to love and compassion. Maru ran away, and her ultimate fate is unknown.

Warner Bros. had reportedly been hearing pitches from various writers for an Aquaman movie and writer/producer Geoff Johns told Variety that Aquaman is a priority character for DC and Warner. On 13 August 2014, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad have been hired by Warner Bros. to pen separate screenplays for Aquaman and will pick which is deemed best to make into a movie. Aquaman will be the sixth film in the DC Extended Universe, with Jason Momoa starring.

Originally, the studios were considering Jeff Nichols, Noam Murro and Karl Urban to direct the film, On April 10, 2015 James Wan was reported to be the frontrunner to direct the film, before later closing the deal. Wan will also write the film along with Will Beall.
Personality
As her title would imply, Isabel Maru is an exceptionally selfish, cold, and ruthless, having a poisoned nature (described as a psychopath by Steve Trevor), since her willingness to fully wipe out the Allied Powers with her lethal gas rivals that of General Ludendorff himself. However, she seems to be relatively unambitious and utterly uninterested in the politics of war, instead being passionate about her scientific research in an artistic fashion. Her giggle after poisoning a room full of German officials implies that she is also quite sadistic.

  +
Pre-production said to start before Christmas of 2016 In Queensland, Australia where filming will begin in 2017.  In December, it was announced that the film's working title was "Ahab". Amber Heard was reported to be in talks to portray the role of Mera in January 2016 in both Aquaman and the two-part Justice League. She was confirmed in the role several months later. It was announced that Aquaman will be set after Justice League and it won't be an origin story.
However, Dr. Poison is also somewhat gullible, as Steve Trevor was almost able to deceive and get her to disclose her research to him. Her body language and tone after she discovers that Steve is interested in Diana, could also imply some self-deprecating bitterness about her physical condition.

  +
James Wan also revealed that he choose to direct Aquaman over The Flash. On July 22, 2016, Will Beall was confirmed to be writing the film, based on a story treatment written by Wan and Johns. It was reported on August 10, 2016 that Black Manta will serve as the film's primary antagonist.
Despite her ambition and sadistic psychopathy, Dr. Poison shows a selfish fear for her own life, and is absolutely terrified of beings of godlike power, like Ares and Wonder Woman.

  +
James Wan is aiming for a film that is a "swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. A quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone and there will be a dynamic between Arthur and Mera start off as a love-hate relationship where they don't quite click and as time goes by and they try to work together they get closer and closer". Aquaman entered pre-production in Queensland, Australia in November 2016 with filming to begin in 2017. On December 2, 2016, Warner Bros. announced a new release date of October 5, 2018.
Abilities
<tabber>Abilities=

*Gifted Intelligence: Dr. Poison is exceptionally intelligent, which mainly extends to her considerable chemistry, toxicology, fluid dynamics, and lingual skills, making Dr. Poison General Ludendorff's most valuable ally.

**Expert Chemist: Dr. Poison is a highly skilled chemist (notably more so than Slipknot), particularly in the field of toxicology and gaseous substances, as she was able to come up with a metahuman gaseous drug that extremely enhanced General Ludendorff's strength and durability, and also came up with a new and deadlier version of mustard gas (based on hydrogen instead of sulfur), against which gas masks would be useless. It should be noted, however, that Dr. Poison was given some covert assistance on her research from Ares.

**Multilingualism: Dr. Poison, apart from her native Turkish, also speaks fluent English (albeit with a Turkish accent), as well as the currently dead Sumerian and Ottoman Turkish languages, writing down her science notes in the latter 2.

|-|

Weaknesses=

*Human Vulnerabilities: Dr. Poison's greatest weakness is that she is a human with no enhanced strength, speed, durability, or metahuman powers, therefore making her quite vulnerable to the physical attacks of stronger and more powerful opponents, hence she was terrified when confronted by Wonder Woman, and in mortal danger of the latter crushing her with a British tank.

|-|

Equipment=

*Gas Pellets: Dr. Poison's personal fearsome invention (a new and deadlier version of mustard gas, based on hydrogen instead of sulfur) was contained in these pellets. General Ludendorff had her use a pellet against disagreeing German officers, and then load all remaining ones onto a military plane.

Warner Bros. had reportedly been hearing pitches from various writers for an Aquaman movie and writer/producer Geoff Johns told Variety that Aquaman is a priority character for DC and Warner.[27] On 13 August 2014, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that both Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad have been hired by Warner Bros. to pen separate screenplays for Aquaman and will pick which is deemed best to make into a movie.[28] Aquaman will be the sixth film in the DC Extended Universe, with Jason Momoa starring.[29]

Originally, the studios were considering Jeff Nichols, Noam Murro and Karl Urban to direct the film,[30] On April 10, 2015 James Wan was reported to be the frontrunner to direct the film,[31] before later closing the deal.[1] Wan will also write the film along with Will Beall.[3]

Pre-production said to start before Christmas of 2016 In Queensland, Australia where filming will begin in 2017. [32] In December, it was announced that the film's working title was "Ahab".[33] Amber Heard was reported to be in talks to portray the role of Mera in January 2016 in both Aquaman and the two-part Justice League.[34] She was confirmed in the role several months later.[35] It was announced that Aquaman will be set after Justice League and it won't be an origin story.[36]

James Wan also revealed that he choose to direct Aquaman over The Flash.[37] On July 22, 2016, Will Beall was confirmed to be writing the film, based on a story treatment written by Wan and Johns.[38] It was reported on August 10, 2016 that Black Manta will serve as the film's primary antagonist.[39]

James Wan is aiming for a film that is a "swashbuckling action adventure, sort of high seas adventure story. A quest story in the spirit of Raiders of the Lost Ark and Romancing the Stone and there will be a dynamic between Arthur and Mera start off as a love-hate relationship where they don't quite click and as time goes by and they try to work together they get closer and closer".[40] Aquaman entered pre-production in Queensland, Australia in November 2016[41] with filming to begin in 2017.[42] On December 2, 2016, Warner Bros. announced a new release date of October 5, 2018.[43]

Patrick Wilson was cast as Orm on December 12, 2016,[44] and Keir Beck and his stunt team were confirmed to work on the film on December 29, 2016.[45] On January 31, 2017, Nicole Kidman and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II were reportedly cast as Queen Atlanna and Black Manta, respectively.[15] On February 3, 2017, Temuera Morrison was cast as Aquaman's father, Thomas Curry.[17]. On the 20th of February it was announced by James Wan that Don Burgess will be the cinematographer for the movie.[46] On March 16, it was announced that the movie will be delayed from the October release date, to December 21, 2018.[6] On 23 August 2017, it's been confirmed that the film will run on a $160 million budget.[47]

In an interview with CinemaBlend, Jason Momoa reveals that the film will get into ocean pollution.[48] Momoa went on to explain that the real-life issues of pollution and contamination of the sea will factor into the film's depiction of the conflict between the surface and Atlantis, "and how he has to bring these two worlds together. Because you're going to see this ocean world, which [humans] just pollute, and how do these people feel underwater with what the land does to the ocean. And this war that is going to come between the two, and I'm the only one that can link the two. He has to do it. He doesn't want to do it."[49]
