Wayne Manor is a large rundown mansion and former residence of the Wayne family in Gotham City.
History
Wayne Manor is the large palatial home of Bruce Wayne and his butler, friend, and bodyguard Alfred Pennyworth, and former home to the late Martha and Thomas Wayne who are buried in the cemetery on the grounds. It is described as "a desolate husk, overtaken by weeds and water-stains after years of neglect".[1] It is likely it was destroyed in an explosion or fire. Bruce Wayne now lives in a modern lakeside house known colloquially as "The Glasshouse". [2] At the end of Justice League it's implied that Bruce wants to rebuild Wayne Manor for the Justice League and potential future recruits.
Behind the Scenes
- In the DC Comics universe, Wayne Manor has been ruined in various incarnations. Before the events of Kingdom Come, it was destroyed by Two-Face and Bane after discovering Batman's true identity. In Cataclysm, the Manor was damaged beyond repair, after an earthquake struck Gotham City. Also, in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, Wayne Manor was also destroyed by a fire caused by the League of Assassins.
