The Superman Statue is a fifteen-foot tall commemorative statue dedicated to the Kryptonian known as Superman, who saved mankind from annihilation during the Black Zero Event.

When the Kryptonian Dru-Zod attempted to reshape the Earth into a new Krypton, the alien known as Superman helped the U.S. Armed Forces neutralize the threat before defeating and killing Zod.

In the months that followed, Heroes Park was built with a statue of the alien hero located in the center of the public park.

In 2015, former Wayne Enterprises employee Wallace Keefe, who was paralyzed from the waist down during the Battle of Metropolis, was arrested for spray-painting the words "False God" across the statue's chest.

Following the Duel of Gotham City, the statue was destroyed by Superman as he fought the creature known as Doomsday. The remains of the statue were later replaced with a memorial honoring the fallen hero.

In 2017, Superman returned and found that parts of the crumbled statue were still there within the park.

The statue depicts a kneeling Superman with his left arm outstretched towards the sky and the right extended in front of him, possibly indicating his origins and his ties to Earth.

  • A large bronze statue of Superman in Metropolis has appeared often in DC comic history.
