To be fair, major websites have made mistakes before. Gotta analyze the content of their articles and they seem to base it off just by that banner.
I saw wait until official word directly from the source, or from an interview
It seems like someone saw the banner and thought meant a rebrand. And many people believed it and wrote their own articles spreading this rumor. But someone on Batman-News looked into this and debunked the rumor. There's no proof of a rebrand. And worse, the rumor got Wikipedia debating whether they should move their DCEU article. We should get more proof of a rebrand to agree. And personally, I think Worlds of DC (not the plural WORLDS) is a dumb name because all the movies in this franchise take place on the same Earth from Man of Steel. Joaquin Phoenix's Joker and Teen Titans Go to the Movies are not part of this franchise. Many sources are saying DC will be focused on isolated movies and that Aquaman, Shazam and Wonder Woman 1984 would ignore Justice League, but that's obviously not true when Jason Mamoa played Aquaman in both his movie and Justice League, with Amber Heard's Mera having one scene in Justice League before being Aquaman's deuteragonist; Shazam having a bunch of Justice League merchandise and a newspaper about Superman's return, and Wonder Woman 1984 once again played by Gal Gadot being a sequel to a prequel to Batman v Superman. Aquaman was filming at the same time as the JL reshoots and there have been no executive meddling on Aquaman that would have been expected with a mandate change, so it's very likely Aquaman would reference stuff from Justice League, thus keeping it connected. The whole "Worlds of DC" idea is false. Just some wishful thinking from fans who didn't like BvS and Justice League, which is never going to be removed from canon because they're the foundation of the DCEU, no matter how bad they were.
I agree, this is not an official name for the setting.
When they say isolated movies, what they mean is distancing themselves from crossovers and team-ups for the time being since DC butchered Justice League and the general reaction was negative; increasingly so in light of information releasing about Zack Snyder's original script and how it would've introduced new storylines.
It would seem that, for the time being, DC is going to work on and release the films they've already announced, but instead of them culminating into another Justice League film, they'll (finally) lay the foundation by establishing characters, then move on from there.
With people debunking the rumor, hopefully it would never catch on. The DCEU had other names rumored and they never caught on. Justice League Universe was put in a BvS promo. DC Universe was a rumored name but it couldn't catch on because the comics are called that. DC Extended Universe was the only name that caught on, trumping the first rumored name DC Cinematic Universe. The DCEU name will always win. And if Worlds of DC ends up being more accepted than DCEU, would this site's name have to be changed? We need to spread the word that our franchise is still the DC Extended Universe.
If it changed, I'm not sure if there is a way to switch the url over, though TimeShade says he claimed two in case they decide to make it official
DC Extended Universe hasn't been forgotten, as the name was used in the articles that state the supposed change. Along the lines of; "The DC Comics film franchise, popularly referred to as the DC Extended Universe, or DC Cinematic Universe, has officially received a name: Worlds of DC"

I meant we wait until after the DC Extended Universe has been forgotten. Of course it hasn't been forgotten yet, the Worlds of DC is still new and hopefully DCEU would trump over the new name like it did for previous names.
