The Sword of Athena, is a magical armament that Princess Diana wields in battle when fighting as Wonder Woman.

History[edit | edit source]

Construction[edit | edit source]

At some point the sword was presumably created and wielded by the Olympian Goddess of Wisdom, Crafts, and Strategy, Athena.

Wonder Woman[edit | edit source]

Some time after World War I, Wonder Woman somehow acquired a replacement for Godkiller, the sword that Ares had destroyed.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice[edit | edit source]

Wonder Woman would eventually proceed to wield the sword against Doomsday, managing to slice off the monster's right arm with it.

Specifications[edit | edit source]

Much like Wonder Woman's shield, the sword has Ancient Greek writing engraved on both sides of its blade and a symbol that represents the Amazons of Themyscira.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The writing on the blade is a quote from Joseph Campbell's Goddesses: Mysteries of the Feminine Divine, which reads: "Life is killing life all the time and so the goddess kills herself in the sacrifice of her own animal."
