On April 8, 2019, Henry Gayden was announced to return to write the sequel to Shazam! with Sandberg and Safran expected to return.[1] [2] The film was given a April 2022 release date. On August 22, 2020 during the DC FanDome global event the cast and director announced the title of the film is "Shazam! Fury of the Gods". On February 25, 2021, Rachel Zegler was announced to have joined the cast in an undisclosed role.
